Barcelona

Our year including myself was very excited to find out that we would be going to Barcelona for our transition year trip. On the 30th April at 11.30pm we gathered at the new hall to wait for our buses. After we were all organised we left the school at 12.00pm for Dublin Airport. It was a long and tiring journey but we had more to travel ahead of us. We then arrived at Dublin Airport at  3.45am . At the airport we got our boarding passes and went on through security. We had two hours of free time to get something to eat. We left Dublin at 6.15am and headed for Barcelona Airport. The journey to Barcelona was very unsettling as there was a lot of  turbulence.

DAY 1

We arrived in Barcelona at 9.45am. Once we passed through passport control and got our luggage we met up with our coaches Eros Travel. We then had a tour of the city along with the help of our tour guides. When we started our tour it was raining but picked up after a while. We first stoped at Plaza De Espana square looking over Barcelona.

We then made our way to the city centre at Passeig De Gracia were we seen the Casa mila and La Sagrada Familia both designed by Gaudi. My favorite building was La Sagrada Famila as it was one of the most impressive monuments i have ever seen. There was also great entertainment outside of La Sagrada Familia.

We then went for lunch before ending the last part of sightseeing at La Sagrada Famillia.  At 16.00pm we went to the Barcelona aquarium. This aquarium is considered one of the largest in Europe as it as 11,000 animals and over 450 types of species.

At  5.45pm our group got back to the bus and headed to the hotel. We arrived at 6.45pm and checked into the Hotel Calypso. After we left our luggage in our room we went for dinner. Our Group got time to settle in before we went out to the markets to shop around 9.00pm.

At camp nou our group had a self guided tour. I was very impressed with the size of the stadium compared to the Olympic stadium we seen the day before.

After lunch we gathered our group and headed for Mountain Montjuic. When we arrived our group got a cable car up the mountain so we could look over the city.

When we got to the top of the mountain we went sightseeing where there was a fort, also we looked over the harbor at the top of the mountain.

At 5.00pm we left Mountain Montuic before arriving at the hotel at 7.30pm for our dinner. To finish the day we went bowling at Bowling Diverland Les Gavarres at 9.00pm. We then went back to our hotel for the night.

DAY 3

I got up at the same time on day three for breakfast and met the coach at 9.30am. We arrived at PortAventura  at 10.00am and had the whole day for ourselves. PortAventura was one of my favorite parts of the trips as i enjoyed the roller coasters including shambhala, furius baco, and dragon khan.
