On the 11th of October our TY year group went to see the road safety roadshow at the aura leisure center in Letterkenny .
In this talk we had six speakers that shared their own experiences of road collisions. The first speaker was Sergeant Mark Traynor. He talked about many horrible collisions. But the worst for him was when a three year girl that was found dead with her mother and father because of a road crash incident.
The second, third and fourth speaker was a fireman, paramedic and a nurse who had similar experiences. The last two speakers was a mother of a victim that was killed in a road crash collision and a victim that had survived a collision. The victim that spoke was called Richard Alcorn. Richard Alcorn lost an arm. He broke his neck, shattered his pelvis, broke both hips. He had a double by-pass. And the arteries to his brain had to be tied together because they were so badly severed. He spoke of awareness about road safety and to be careful on the road and know when to slow down. Overall we learnt a great understanding about road safety and it was a very interesting day for myself and my TY year group.
